WRITER’S GUIDELINES

Interested in submitting an article for consideration in the magazine or website? Please read through our editorial guidelines.

Editorial Guidelines

We’d really appreciate and encourage submissions from people who connect with the cause of our mission. To help strengthen and encourage women who may be in or have just escaped hopeless situations, to celebrate their lives again.

We update PRECIOUS WOMAN MAGAZINE regularly and make assignments based on our editorial needs. As always, there is more chance of writing for the website than the quarterly print magazine as space is limited. We encourage journalism or creative writing graduates to write in because we provide written recommendations for portfolios and new employers based on proven relationships between writers and editors.

Submission Guidelines:

Website: Once an article is chosen for use online, writers receive a byline for the story as well as a two-line bio (with links to blogs, personal websites or book pages). Writers are responsible for the content of their stories and for getting permission for any quotes outside of fair usage and we try to use only original stories.

Print:

For print submissions, we claim first-time print rights and all electronic rights to unpublished pieces for six months, non-exclusive rights thereafter. Magazine articles may be featured or excerpted on our website or reprinted in any books published by Cheers. Once a commission has been made the article should be emailed by midnight of the deadline given. If the article does not meet deadline or does not meet editorial standards, we reserve the right to refuse to print. We do not pay for print submissions, please check our charitable status.

Copyright Policy:

We reserve the right to modify, use, distribute, reproduce, publish and display online sub-mission indefinitely in all media, means and forms. For web articles, the author will relinquish the copyright of their work for six months after it is posted on cheersmagazine.5u.com after that point, we will have non-exclusive rights to the story, and it will remain in our archives. We reserve the right to later print the work in book form. Submissions to the website are on a donation basis (byline and bio are compensation). [Note: Stories can be published as a reprint on Pulsemagazine.5u.com or JHMWorldwide.50megs.com]

Once you've read over the guidelines and policies, you can submit your article here. Articles will be evaluated for web and print at the same time. If we're able to use your article, we will contact you and discuss where we plan to use it.

Article Submission Checklist

1. Submit your article as a Word attachment.
2. Articles should be 800-1,000 words (we reserve the right to edit articles).
3. Include your name and a brief bio.
4. Double-check for spelling and grammar before submitting.
5. Email your submission; please refrain from phone or fax pitches.
